A Belleville man is facing a long list of charges after an accident in Quinte West.
On Saturday, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Quinte West OPP officers responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 2 and Tripp Boulevard. During their investigation, officers began to suspect a driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for testing. As a result of the investigation, charges were laid.
Arvo Oad, an 80-year-old Belleville man, was charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol over 80, driving while under suspension, and careless driving.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 20. Additionally, his vehicle was impounded for seven days, and licence suspended for 90 days.
