A long-duration extreme heat event is continuing across southern Ontario, including the entire Quinte region.
Temperatures are in the mid 30s, however, with the humidity, that could feel like well over 40 degrees Celsius.
The overnight low (Wednesday night to Thursday morning) still showed 31 degrees Celsius with the humidity.
Thursday going into Friday is expected to be the same.
Local air quality is pushing towards the high-risk category.
Public health officials urge residents to limit direct sun exposure, stay hydrated, and check in on isolated or older adults multiple times a day.
Everyone should watch for signs of heat exhaustion—such as dizziness and intense fatigue—and remember that heat stroke is a medical emergency requiring an immediate call to 911.
