Working closely with Loyalist College and other colleges and reaching out to international students has paid off for Quinte Health and its four hospitals.
Quinte Health’s CEO Stacey Daub tells Quinte News that other than doctors, the organization has a full complement of staff.
“This was the first year that we don’t have enough positions for all the nurses that are actually graduating from colleges who would like roles here and who have been in training here.”
Daub says despite being fully staffed at this time, Quinte Health continues to welcome students to spend time observing in hospitals in an effort to acquaint them with the organization’s culture with an eye to future hiring.
In the past year over 1,000 so-called “learners” have spent time observing in the hospitals.
In 2025-2026 the stable staffing situation has led to the lowest number of overtime hours being claimed in the last five years.
