Northumberland OPP have charged a driver after catching them driving dangerously while impaired.
Police responded to a call about a public disturbance in Colborne in the area of Toronto St. and Church St. on Saturday evening, just before 10 p.m.
When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle lose traction while turning onto King St. Police later located the vehicle on Victoria St. where the driver was taken into custody. After the driver was in custody, police began an impaired driving investigation. The driver was transported to a local detachment for further testing, where a result nearly three times the legal limit was registered.
Damon Armstrong, a 27-year-old from Norwood, was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol over 80, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, stunt driving, and driving with an open liquor container.
The driver has a court date set in July. His driver’s licence was also suspended, and vehicle impounded.
