One person suffered minor injuries after a commercial vehicle rolled at the intersection of Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and Hamilton Road late Monday afternoon.
Belleville police, fire, and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services responded just before 6 p.m.
Police say it appears a truck travelling east on Hamilton Road was unable to stop at the intersection and rolled when the driver took evasive action to avoid a collision with a passenger vehicle travelling south on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road.
The truck and attached trailer rolled onto their side.
The truck driver was taken to hospital for treatement.
The vehicle was transporting water, however, diesel fuel leaked from the truck’s fuel tanks, requiring environmental remediation.
Officials from the Ministry of the Environment attended the scene to oversee cleanup operations.
The roadway remained closed until approximately 2:00 a.m. to allow emergency crews and cleanup personnel to safely clear the scene and ensure the area was safe for reopening.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage of the incident is asked to contact Constable Tinsley at stinsley@bellevilleps.ca.
