A Brighton woman has been charged after a shoplifting incident.
Northumberland OPP received a report of a theft from a business on Elizabeth Street in Brighton just before 12:30 a.m. on June 7.
The caller reported that an individual had stolen approximately $70 worth of items before leaving in a vehicle.
Officers were provided with a description to assist in the investigation.
Later that same day, at around 10:30 p.m., police responded to a similar complaint at the same location, where the same individual had stolen liquor.
On June 10, 2026, the individual was arrested on an outstanding warrant by a neighboring police service and subsequently transferred into OPP custody.
28-year-old Leena Canfyn-Crawford of Brighton has been charged with:
- Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting – two counts
- Failure to attend court after having appeared
The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September.
