Correctional Service Canada says it seized $687,355 of contraband at the Collins Bay Institution.
Between May 20 and June 5, 2026, as a result of the vigilance of staff members, multiple packages containing contraband and unauthorized items were seized.
Items seized included tobacco, marijuana, “shatter” (cannabis concentrate), crystal methamphetamine, hashish, drug and tattoo paraphernalia, edged weapons, as well as cell phones and accessories.
The CSC says it uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions.
These tools include ion scanners and detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.
