The Catholic school board for Northumberland County is set to implement a “balanced school day” schedule.
Instead of the traditional morning and afternoon recess, and a longer lunch break, the balanced school day will introduce three longer instructional blocks separated by two nutritional breaks.
The instructional blocks would be 100 to 120 minutes with the nutritional breaks being between 40 and 50 minutes.
The Peterborough, Victoria, Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board will implement the changes at Peterborough area schools at the start of the new school year, with the remaining school following next year.
