Quinte Walks 25th annual Walk to End ALS is coming to Zwick’s Park.
The fundraiser event is being held on Saturday, June 6, with the opening ceremony starting at 10:30.
Event organizer Evelyn Wilson said they are approaching an important fundraising milestone.
“Over the years we have raised $930,000 which goes towards helping local patients with equipment and services, and also with research,” said Wilson. “This year the goal is $35,000 but technically we’re hoping for 70, because then we will hit the million dollar mark, and that would be our real goal.”
The walk will feature a family activity zone, food and drinks, and an exhibit showcasing the history of the walk.
“We are thankful over the 25 years of the community support,” said Wilson. “It’s always been a phenomenal support from our community, and people come out and just have people that happen to see us at the walk make donations, which is wonderful.”
Currently, there are 12 families in the Quinte region who have a member battling ALS.
Anyone seeking to donate can do so at the event’s webpage here.
