A man is facing several charges including five counts of arson in connection with a fire on West Moira Street Monday evening.
Two vehicles were destroyed and two pets saved when the garage of a home caught fire in the area of Wallbridge Crescent.
Flames also spread to two nearby homes.
Belleville police say it was reported a male was behaving erratically in the area and uttered threats before setting one of the vehicles on fire with the flames quickly spreading.
Officers arrested the suspect nearby
A 38-year-old Belleville man of fixed address was arrested on nine charges including with two counts of each of arson – disregard for human life and three counts of arson – damage to property.
He was held for a bail hearing.
No injuries were reported.
Belleville police and Belleville Fire continue to investigate.
