There is an important safety warning from Cobourg police, following a stolen bike incident that landed one person in the hospital.
It all started just after 4:00 a. m. on Saturday when a bicycle was stolen in town.
A few hours later, the owner spotted the bike near West Pebble Beach and decided to confront the person who had it.
The suspect allegedly attacked the owner using rocks and a pocketknife.
Thirty-five-year-old John-Saul Cooney is now facing ten charges, including assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.
Cobourg police remind residents that these situations can escalate in the blink of an eye, and you should never approach anyone suspected of criminal activity.
