Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a reported threat involving Lakefield College.
On Monday May 25, 2026, shortly after 10:00 a.m., the Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding a potential bomb threat that had been received by the school.
The staff at the school immediately initiated their safety protocols which included contacting police.
Officers arrived on scene minutes later and after a sweep of the school was conducted, it was confirmed that the bomb threat was unfounded and there was no immediate risk to the safety of the students or staff.
The OPP Major Crime Unit has been engaged to assist with the ongoing investigation into the source of the threat.
At this point, investigators have determined that the call originated from outside of Ontario.
