Officers identified the suspect and confirmed he was a prohibited driver.
Police attended his residence, where the male and a female were present.
When officers attempted to arrest the male, he refused to comply and retreated inside.
A verbal dispute was then heard, and officers observed the male with his arm around the female’s neck.
Officers intervened, at which point the male released the female and charged at an officer.
The male was taken into custody.
As a result of investigation, an unidentified 42-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while prohibited
· Dangerous operation
· Failure or refusal to comply with demand
· Take motor vehicle without consent
· Assault – spousal
· Resist peace officer
· Assault a peace officer
He was held for a bail hearing.
