New Development Charge By-law
Development charges are going up in Centre Hastings.
Recently, Centre Hastings Council approved an updated five-year Development Charges By-law.
Under the new by-law, developers will have to pay just over $27,000 for each new single-family or semi-detached dwelling in Madoc, almost double the previous charge of $14,000.
The charges help pay for extra costs to the municipality caused by new development.
Park improvements
Much needed work will be done soon at Centre Hastings Park in Madoc.
Council has accepted a tender from Belleville company Customcrete to make
repairs to the skate pad at the park.

The job will cost $15,820.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated project, some new play equipment is to be installed in the park in the coming months as well.
