The Trenton Waste Water Treatment Plant is getting a new freight elevator.
During Wednesday’s meeting of council, councillors discussed a proposal to replace an aging freight elevator at the waste water plant, which has become unsafe for use.
A report from municipal staff broke down the problems with the elevator, which included repeated control panel failures, difficulty sourcing parts for the older machinery, and a failed control cable.
This particular elevator was used regularly before it became unsafe, moving heavy loads and equipment between the floors of the plant.
Wastewater staff recommended replacing the elevator with a new model, a project that is slated to cost $385,000. Those funds would be drawn from the wastewater capital reserve.
Council voted to approve the project without debate.
