A roundtable discussion with local MPs and MPPs and the City of Belleville on a number of topics is being targeted for a date in mid-February.
The comments came from CAO Matt MacDonald after a request for an update by Councillor Paul Carr at Belleville’s council meeting on Monday.
An initial date for the roundtable was set for January 26 after a motion was brought forward by Councillor Carr in November.
Some of the topics that would be discussed include legislative changes and government programs to address housing and addictions & mental health, consultation with the city related to planning, the downloading of funding responsibilities to the city, and previous resolutions that were sent by council to local offices that did not receive a response.
Local MPs invited would include Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette and Hastings—Lennox and Addington—Tyendinaga MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman.
MPPs invited would include Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp and Hastings—Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee.
Allsopp has already indicated to Quinte News that he would be willing to take part in the roundtable.
