The Belleville Senators have announced that defenceman Scott Harrington has been named the captain of the Belleville Senators for the 2026-27 season.
The announcement was made in a press release on Friday.
Harrington is the seventh captain in Belleville Senators history.
“It’s a huge honour and a privilege to wear a letter on a professional hockey team. We’ve got a lot of leaders on our team, and to be recognized as the captain is a big thrill for me and my family,” said Harrington in the press release.
“I said when I signed here last year that it’s like a full-circle moment, because it’s the closest I’ve played to home since I left to play junior in London. So to play every day in a rink I played in growing up, it’s a really cool feeling.”
The 33-year-old is in his second season in Belleville after signing a two-year AHL contract in 2025-26, dressing in all 12 games this season, registering a goal and an assist.
It will be the first time Harrington donned the “C” in the professional level, after serving as an alternate captain during the 2026-26 season.
Harrington previously captained the OHL’s London Knights in 2012-13; he also served as an alternate captain for Canada’s National Junior Team at the 2013 IIHF World U20 Championship.
He will wear the “C” for the first time in Belleville’s matchup against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Friday night.
