A former Alberta junior hockey executive and part-time staff member with the Belleville Senators, accused of sexually exploiting three players while out west, has been released on bail.
39-year-old Tyler King appeared in court in Okotoks, Alberta., after being arrested last week at the U.S. border crossing in Lansdowne.
Details of the bail hearing are under a publication ban, but a judge has prohibited King from contacting the complainants and from being with anyone under 18.
He must also follow restrictions on using social media.
RCMP began investigating King in 2024, around the time he left as assistant general manager with the Okotoks Oilers, a team that now plays in the British Columbia Hockey League.
King went to work for the BCHL’s Nanaimo team, then wound up teaching sports journalism at a university in New York state.
Locally, King also worked as a part-time staff member of the Belleville Senators.
In a statement to Quinte News, the team stated the following:
“Tyler King is a part-time worker on game nights, and we have been made aware of the serious allegations around him. He will not be working with us while this investigation is ongoing, and we will provide any assistance required by the RCMP.”
He’s due back in court December 18 on charges of luring, sexual exploitation and making child pornography.
