Investigation – 196 Park Street N
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service Investigative Services branch are continuing to investigate after an incident early Monday morning.
At approximately 12:51 a.m. on January 12, 2026, an officer on general patrol in the area of Dalhousie Street and Rubidge Street heard multiple popping sounds that sounded like gunfire. The officer started driving toward the sound and spotted three bullet holes in a window of 196 Park Street North.
There were no injuries reported, however, one of the people inside the home suffered a K9 bite when they refused to exit the residence. They were taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.
Through investigation it was learned that several people were spotted fleeing the area shortly after the sound.

Assault Cause Bodily Harm/Robbery Arrest
Three Peterborough men have been charged in connection with an incident last Wednesday night.
At approximately 11:50 p.m. on January 7, 2026, officers were made aware of a man who had been assaulted outside, in the Reid Street and Simcoe Street area during an altercation. The victim suffered minor injuries to his face and his backpack was stolen. He was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment after being assessed by paramedics at the scene.
As a result of the investigation three people have now been arrested and charged.
On Friday, January 9, 2026, a 29-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant for his involvement with the incident was located and charged with:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Robbery with weapon
The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
On Friday, January 9, 2026, a 42-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant for his involvement with the incident was located and charged with:
- Assault cause bodily harm
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
A third man was located in the early morning hours of Monday, January 12, 2026, while officers responded to a separate call service.
As a result, a 26-year-old Peterborough man wanted on a warrant for his involvement with the incident was located and charged with:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, January 12, 2026.
Paper Plates
A 45-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges under the Highway Traffic Act after a traffic services officers discovered the man had paper licence plates on his vehicle.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. on January 10, 2026, the officer conducted a traffic stop in the Romaine Street area near Park Street. Through investigation it was further learned that the plates were paper and secured in a plastic sleeve with packing tape.
As a result, the 45-year-old driver was issued the following:
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Use plate no in accordance with Act
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming an owner
- Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway – no insurance
The paper licence plates were seized, and the driver was given a court date of March 23, 2026.
