Quick response by Belleville Fire and Emergency Services kept damage limited to just part of a home early Tuesday evening.
Just after 6 p.m., firefighters responded to a house in the 100 block of Gilbert Street.
No one was home at the time and fire was under control quickly.
No one was injured.
An investigation into a cause is underway.
