Kingston Police have charged a 51-year-old man in connection with a homicide.
34-year-old Jayme Shawn Syring died in hospital December 30 as the result of an assault that took place at a residence on the 2600-block of Princess Street.The Major Crime Unit began a murder investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section and the Patrol Division.
During the morning hours of January 1 with assistance from the Street Crime and Drug Enforcement Units, an unidentified 51-year-old Kingston man was arrested, and a search warrant was executed in the 100-block of Sutherland Drive.
Charges have not been revealed but the accused is to appear for a bail hearing Friday.
Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no risk to public safety.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to contact them.
