With 2026 almost upon us Quinte News asked MP of Hastings – Lennox and Addington – Tyendinaga, Shelby Kramp-Neuman, for her thoughts about the coming year.
She said that while looking at the new year, she’s taking an optimistic approach.
“I’m looking forward to how I can continue to be even a better representative for the riding. It’s massively difficult to accurately balance the wants and needs of all of our constituents, and I try my hardest to adapt,” said MP Kramp-Neuman “Every single person is deserving of a member of parliament that they can respect and they can trust.”
While MP Kramp-Neuman expressed optimism about the new year, she acknowledged some challenges that Canada will face. Chief among them was ongoing trade talks with the United States.
“Canada-US trade talks are essentially off right now, formal talks are off, and the government has basically conceded,” said MP Kramp-Neuman. “They’re not likely to pick up until CUSMA review talks.”
With the potential for further trade disruptions, MP Kramp-Neuman said that there needs to be a focus in the coming year on relief measures to help the average Canadian.
