A much needed facility will be starting operations later this year.
As we look ahead at 2026 in Centre Hastings, Mayor Tom Deline tells Quinte News
that the 128-bed Clare McFaul Long Term Care home is expected to officially open in June.
that the 128-bed Clare McFaul Long Term Care home is expected to officially open in June.
Deline says he’s happy all of the residents will be housed on just one floor.
“You’re given a 128-bed home and 64 on the bottom floor and 64 on an upper floor with two stairways and two elevators and you’ve got a major, major
catastrophe happening – how are you going to get those people out?”
In 2023, Centre Hastings issued a building permit worth almost $34 million for the home, but the total cost of construction will be much higher.
Some bridge work could be coming up in Centre Hastings in the new year.
Deline says council hopes to install bridges on Sills Road and Ray Road West in 2026.
Deline also says the province has approved a new water tower for Madoc and that job will go out to tender.
“It’d be nice to get it started so we’ve got the land for it right behind the old tower so it’s all ready to go it’s just a matter of getting the contract
let and getting somebody to bid on it.”
