The reopening of the arena in Marmora and Lake this fall was a highlight of 2025 for the community.
The rink was closed for all of last season after the chiller malfunctioned in late 2024 and had to be replaced.
Mayor Jan O’Neil says the community staple reopened this fall.
“And it’s fully booked with some slots for public skating. In the meantime, while it was down, the staff did a lot of work to make it look really nice. It’s all painted and fresh and it’s operating well.”
Some significant capital projects were also completed in 2025.
“We reconstructed Centre Line Road and Skene Road up in Lake Township. We completed those under budget, slightly under budget.”
Cleanup from the ice storm earlier this year cost the municipality about $470,000.
O’Neil says they’ve applied for a provincial grant to help cover some of those cleanup costs but haven’t heard back yet.
