The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Central Hastings Detachment has lifted the shelter-in-place advisory for the area around Jamieson St. East and Louisa St. in the Municipality of Tweed. One individual is in police custody, and no others are being sought.
The shelter-in-place advisory was issued on Monday, December 15, 2025, at aro und 12:30 a.m. in response to an active incident involving an armed individual that was contained and surrounded within a building. As part of the initial response, residents in the immediate area were urged to follow shelter-in-place precautions.
We recognize the significant emotional impact that receiving a shelter-in-place can cause and appreciate the public’s patience as officers worked to investigate and resolve the situation.
Central Hastings OPP thanks the community for their cooperation and understanding. A police presence may remain in the area as the on-site investigation continues. No further information will be released at this time.
