Tuesday September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to reflect on and honour survivors, their families and communities affected by the terrible legacy of Indian Residential Schools.
A special ceremony will be held in Belleville’s Market Square.
There will be remarks from Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte Chief R. Don Maracle, Indigenous musical performances along with a Sacred Fire, and other presentations.
Everyone is encouraged to wear orange at the event which begins at 11 o’clock in the morning.
The flag at Belleville City Hall will be lowered to half-mast in honour of the day.
