Belleville Police say a man who was wanted on first degree murder in Toronto was arrested following a series of drug busts at an apartment building in Belleville’s east end.
Members of the Belleville Police Intelligence and Street Crime Unit, with the help of the Belleville Emergency Response Unit, Kingston Emergency Response Unit and the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Kingston branch, executed four Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants on Thursday.
As a result of police investigation, the following persons were arrested and charged:
37-year-old Mohammed Abdullahi of Toronto was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Proceeds of Crime under $5000
- Obstruct Police
Police had also learned that Abdullahi had an outstanding Toronto Police Service arrest warrant for 1st-degree Murder and he was arrested additionally on the strength of the warrant.
33-year-old George Andrews of Pickering was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drug
- Proceeds of Crime under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
53-year-old Robert Tandy of Belleville was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Proceeds of Crime under $5000
As a result of the search the following was seized:
- 88.3 grams of Cocaine
- 4 Oxycodone pills
- 40cc of unknown liquid in a syringe
- $3,316 in Canadian currency
- 5 cell phones
