The unemployment rate in the Belleville – Quinte West area jumped by just over three per cent this spring.
A report to the Quinte Economic Development Commission indicates the rate of out-of-work people jumped in March.
Statistics for this area show the unemployed number sat at 5.1 per cent this year, compared to 2.2 per cent in 2022.
That is a 2.9 per cent increase.
For the entire province of Ontario, the out-of-work number sat at almost the identical number, at 5.3.
