The mayor of Quinte West says he’s received some discouraging news on the local vaccine distribution front.
Jim Harrison tells Quinte News he got a call from HPE Public Health on Wednesday, saying that the local vaccine allocation is being cut by 25% to reallocate those doses towards hot spots in the province.
With supply being the biggest factor in vaccination rates, Harrison says there are a lot of people that will be left waiting.
“There’s a lot of people out there, frontline workers, long term care homes, manufacturing, education. I have no idea how long it’s going to be, hopefully it doesn’t last too long and we can ramp our clinics back up.”
Quinte News has reached out to HPE Public Health for comment.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the HPE Public Health COVID-19 Dashboard showed 43,318 vaccine doses administered, with 3,224 people fully vaccinated.
