Belleville Council has awarded a contract for the overhaul of the bridge on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road, that goes over Moira Street West and the rail tracks.
A contract worth about $1.16 million, including taxes, was approved for Clearwater Structures Inc. on Monday night, the lowest of eight bids for the work.
The redevelopment will see the bridge be jacked up for various repairs, waterproofing and asphalt work.
Construction will take place over two stages, since one lane of traffic needs to get through at any given time and is expected to be completed in October of this year.
Clearwater is currently also working on the Sagonaska Bridge redevelopment in downtown Belleville, with that project slated to be completed on time and within the budget.
Costs of the Wallbridge-Loyalist bridge project will be shared with the City of Quinte West, since that road is a boundary between the two cities.
