The Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward (CMHA HPE) joins organizations across Canada in recognizing Mental Health Week from May 4 to 10, 2026.
This year’s national theme, Stronger Connections = Better Mental Health, highlights the powerful role that human connection plays in supporting mental well‑being.
Social connection is essential to mental health. Research shows that loneliness has become a growing mental health crisis, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds. While technology helps us stay in touch, digital connection is not the same as real connection.
Online interactions can support relationships, but they can’t replace the depth, warmth, and grounding that come from being with others in person.
On May 4, over the lunch hour, CMHA HPE staff will be in the community making connections and sharing information about available programs and services.
You can find them at:
• Bancroft: Tim Hortons (234 Hastings Street North)
• Belleville: Tim Hortons (161 Bridge Street West and 470 Dundas Street East)
• Madoc: Foodland (40 Elgin Street)
• Picton: Giant Tiger (20 Elizabeth Street)
• Trenton: Smylie’s Your Independent Grocer (293 Dundas Street East)
• Tweed: Tom’s Your Independent Grocer (56 Victoria Street North)
You will also find them at the Quinte West Community Connections Expo (7 Creswell Drive) on May 9
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Burger Revolution will donate $2 from every Burger of the Month to CMHA HPE. Stop in and connect over a burger.
“Human connection plays a powerful role in supporting mental health. At CMHA HPE, we see every day how reaching out, whether for support, information, or simply a conversation, can change someone’s path. This week is a reminder of how important and meaningful small acts of connection
can be,” said Lisa Ali, CEO of CMHA Hastings Prince Edward.
The 2026 Mental Health Week toolkit is now live. Download it. Share it. Bring it into your workplace, classroom, or community during Mental Health Week — or anytime — as a reminder of how important social connections are.
