Belleville Council is moving forward with a pilot project for on-street residential parking permits.
The six month pilot will begin with residents in the small neighbourhood beside Belleville General Hospital, but could be extended to other areas of the city if it’s successful.
Residents in the area of First Street to Sixth Street, North Street and Bay Drive will be able to get one permit per address that would allow them to avoid time of use restrictions in the neighbourhood, however overnight parking would still be prohibited.
Staff will have to work out the number of permits, application process and make some software updates, but the hope is to have the program begin sometime this summer.
