Provincial officials provided an update on the vaccine rollout in the HKPR region Wednesday.
A three-phase plan was presented, the first of which ends Thursday.
Moving forward in the second phase, the vaccination targets are adults 60 to 79 years old, high risk individuals and living settings, at-risk populations and people who can’t work from home.
It was also announced that pharmacy vaccinations are rolling out in the rest of the province after being tested in three health units, and that each health unit region will have AstraZeneca supplied for at least three pharmacies. The target dates for the second phase are April to July of this year. In July the third phase, which targets people under 59, would begin.
The numbers for vaccine deliveries to the area were presented and the schedule shows approximately 11,700 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and 5,900 doses of Moderna vaccine are confirmed to be delivered to the HKPR region between April 5 and April 12. Further, unconfirmed deliveries of 23,400 Pfizer, 3,700 Moderna and 10,800 AstraZeneca/CoviShield in early April are planned.
It was also announced that there would be three new mass vaccination clinics opening up in the health unit region Tuesday, April 6 at the Seymour Firehall in Campbellford, the SG Nesbitt Memorial Arena in Minden and at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre with one coming to Kawartha Lakes later in April.
