The company that provides hydro to the City of Belleville says it is postponing a planned 1.7% distribution rate increase until at least November 1 of this year.
Elexicon Energy says the move is to help residents get through the COVID-19 pandemic and is expected to save customers about $1.07 per month.
It’s one of a handful of measures Elexicon has taken to support its customers during the pandemic including suspending disconnections and adding extended bill payment options, along with making financial assistance programs available.
Along with receiving hydro services from Elexicon, the City of Belleville also owns a stake in the company with the municipalities of Clarington, Ajax, Pickering, and Whitby.
