Statistics for 2019, released by Hastings Prince Edward Public Health this week, indicate 1,333 food premises were inspected during the year.
A total of 137 of them were noted as high risk, 436 moderate risk, and 760 low risk.
Among the long list of investigations, there were 413 for rabies.
A total of 777 public complaints, enquiries and requests for information were handled by health unit staff.
The report by Director of Public Health Programs Eric Serwatka, shows there were hundreds of investigations by the Smoke-Free Ontario Enforcement staff.
That report indicates 372 checks were made to ensure area retailers are not providing tobacco or vaping products to a person under 19 years of age.
ThereĀ were hundreds of inspections to ensure vendors are in compliance with display and promotion restrictions.
A list of public places were inspected to ensure they have smoke-free and no vaping signs.
Four Community Health Protection Orders were issued regarding health hazards at a swimming pool, a cider operation, retirement residence, and a rental property.
There were three food safety charges.
All three led to convictions through voluntary payment by the accused or negotiation with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health.
Three Food Premises Regulation charges were laid in December of 2019 and are currently before the courts.
