The Quinte area is getting a new $14 million Community Health Centre.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith, representing Minister of Health Christine Elliott, made the announcement Tuesday afternoon at Quinte West city hall.
The province will build the Belleville and Quinte West Health Centre on Catherine Street, across from Trenton Memorial Hospital.
Smith says the idea is to increase primary care capacity in Trenton and the surrounding community.

Smith points to the long 10 year wait for this new centre.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says, “It’s fantastic.”
Harrison adds, “If you get a better facility you can attract more people to work here. The city will assist if there is any contamination on the site. The city will assist in removing it. We have had it checked and don’t believe there is much, if any, it will be very little.”
Executive Director of the Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre Sheila Braidek tells Quinte News the health centres provide primary care for their clients.
Construction is expected to begin this month, with an opening scheduled for the fall of 2021.
