Staff in Tyendinaga Township say they are aware of the impacts that Highway 401 emergency detours have and they are trying to address them.
Township resident Ed Gastle made a delegation to council on Tuesday about impacts of increased traffic on neighbourhood streets, when drivers are forced off the highway due to crashes or closures.
Chief Administrative Officer Brad Roach tells Quinte News one of the biggest issues is getting out-of-town drivers to follow posted signage.
Gastle’s delegation was spurred by a crash on July 12 that closed the highway for almost 24 hours, leading to dozens of cars, trucks and transports being detoured through the township.
