Goaltender Marcus Hogberg has been rewarded for his record-breaking season with the Belleville Senators.
The big Swedish netminder has signed a two-year extension with Ottawa, with the first year being a two-way deal, allowing him to be sent freely between Ottawa and Belleville.
The second year is a one-way contract.
Hogberg’s contract carries an annual value of $700,000 in the NHL and $125,000 in the AHL, with a $150,000 guarantee in his first year.
The second year of the contract has an annual value of $700,000.
Hogberg, who had a 21-11-6 record in 39 games, was named Belleville’s MVP last season setting team records for goals against average (2.32), save percentage (.918), saves (979) and shutouts (2).
His GAA was also second best in the American Hockey League regular season.
He played in four NHL games in Ottawa in 2018/19 as well, posting a 4.09 GAA and .884 SV%.
