Alex Bruce, co-owner of the fine dining restaurant The Lark (and shaker of the best cocktails in town), wants a seat on city council. Established 8 years ago in the downtown core, Alex has watched the changes taking place in the city and has developed a few ideas of his own to take Belleville to the next level.
Alex Bruce, 36, is married to Cèline Lepage and has two daughters aged 10 and 9 and has lived in the city for 10 years.
His passion for hospitality and his degree in the arts would be a major asset in deciding the future of Belleville and especially the downtown core. He is currently the treasurer for the Downtown Business Improvement Area and Chair of the Events Committee.
Alex quips, “I’m no politician, just someone who is raising a family, operating a business downtown and planning to build a future in this city for decades to come” and adds, “Belleville works best when council includes people from different generations, backgrounds, and lived experiences. Right now, younger families, parents, and working-age residents are underrepresented in local decision-making.”
“I want to bring the perspective of someone who has made a commitment to improving how the city attracts new enterprises and how city council responds to citizens’ concerns. We need leadership that balances affordability today with responsible investment in the future, so our children inherit a stronger Belleville.”
