An emergency homeless shelter being built in Belleville has reached another step towards completion.
Interior renovations at the Grace Inn Shelter, in the former Irish Hall, began last week.
Grace Inn’s Jodie Jenkins tells Quinte News it’s exciting to see the process moving forward.
Jenkins adds that tradespeople and contractors have made a major impact on the shelter’s bottom line by donating time, equipment and materials.
The starting budget for the project was about $650,000 and Jenkins says, as far as fundraising goes, organizers are about half way there.
If everything stays on schedule, Jenkins says they’re hoping to be open by late spring, or early summer.
