Belleville council will begin the process toward the upgrading of a landmark bridge in the downtown at its meeting Monday afternoon.
Council will be asked to approve the low tender from Ottawa based HP Engineering Inc. to do a design/cost estimate for the Front Street bridge over the Moira River (upper bridge).
The company submitted a tender of close to $112,000 plus tax.
The Front Street bridge is around 90 years old and needs work.
The actual work on the bridge would be part of 2019 budget discussions.
Upgrades to the Bridge Street bridge (lower bridge) cost around 2.5 million dollars.
