The Premier of Ontario offered not only offers of assistance to Prince Edward County officials after a water emergency caused by a partially sunken barge in Picton Bay, but words of praise as well.
Premier Kathleen Wynne phoned county Mayor Robert Quaiff Friday checking to see if the services offered by the provincial government had been useful.
Mayor Quaiff said staff from the provincial government had been a great help, adding the Premier complimented county council, the Mayor himself and municipal staff for their professionalism in dealing with the potential of contaminated water.
The Premier said the local response was one many other municipalities could learn from.
