Canadian figure skaters Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud reached the top of the podium on Saturday at the Skate Canada International competition in Kelowna, British Columbia.
The pair captured gold in the pairs event after delivering stellar performances in both phases of the competition.
They set the pace early by leading the field in Friday’s short program with a score of 77.06 points.
Pereira and Michaud then sealed their victory during Saturday’s free skate to finish with an overall total of 202.17 points.
The win marks their very first career medal at Skate Canada International.
It is also their first ISU Grand Prix title together since 2023.
The Canadian duo finished comfortably ahead of the silver medalists, Americans Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov, who scored 191.90 points.
Switzerland’s Oxana Vouillamoz and Tom Bouvart took home the bronze with 183.12 points.
The impressive showing in British Columbia serves as a major boost for Pereira and Michaud as the ISU Grand Prix season gets underway.
Pereira, along with her Quinte West-born partner Michaud, now get ready to head to their next event later this month in Helsinki.
