Hastings County Council has granted final approval to a 10-year plan to fight homelessness.
During Thursday’s meeting, council reviewed the plan for a final time. The 10-year plan had been before council before, and had been sent to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for review before Hastings County could officially adopt the plan. That review was completed in September and included no required revisions to the plan.
Several priorities are being addressed within the plan, including efforts to increase housing supply, strengthen alternatives to encampments, integrate supportive housing with other services, and protect existing housing stock.
Council adopted the plan as recommended, without debate.
