The Belleville Police Service is temporarily suspending their partnership with Quinte Crime Stoppers after a data breach.
The police service made the decision after a security incident involving Navigate360, the third-party provider of the P3 tip management platform used by Crime Stoppers programs across Canada.
In a press statement, it was said that while Crime Stoppers remains a valued partner, use of their service is being suspended temporarily while further information about the incident is reviewed. This suspension includes both their tip line and online reporting portal.
During this suspension, members of the public who wish to provide information are encouraged to contact the Belleville Police Service directly. While this does not provide the anonymity associated with the Crime Stoppers program, it will ensure information is received directly by investigators.
The Belleville Police Service will continue to work with Quinte Crime Stoppers and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
