The election results have now had a couple of days to sink in, and while this wasn’t the outcome I had hoped for, I am incredibly grateful for the support and encouragement I received throughout the campaign.
I won’t pretend I’m not disappointed. I was excited about the opportunity to bring my experience and leadership to the Mayor’s office and continue working to make Quinte West an even better place to live, work and raise a family. I had so many ideas and was looking forward to putting them into action. While things didn’t turn out as I had hoped, I’m proud of the campaign we ran and the support we received.
Most of all, I want to thank the many people who helped me throughout this campaign. To my amazing campaign team, volunteers, family and friends — you were incredible! From putting up signs and knocking on doors to sharing posts, offering encouragement and keeping me going, you gave so much of yourselves. We worked hard, shared plenty of laughs and gave this campaign everything we had. I’m so proud of what we accomplished together.
To everyone who supported me, displayed a sign, made a donation, shared a post, attended an event or took the time to speak with me, thank you. Your kindness and encouragement meant more than I can say. I truly appreciated the conversations I had with so many residents about your hopes, concerns and ideas for Quinte West.
I wish the newly elected members of Council all the best as they take on the challenges and opportunities ahead. There is important work to be done for our city.
As for me, I have plenty of projects and opportunities that I’m looking forward to turning my attention to. My commitment to Quinte West and my interest in public service haven’t changed, and I certainly haven’t ruled out what the future may hold.
There’s still lots to do, and I’m looking forward to what comes next!
