A Belleville restaurant has received an honour from the Mexican government.
Chilangos on North Front Street is receiving the Sello M.
The award is an official international distinction from Mexico’s Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and the Mexican Academy of Cuisine, recognizing restaurants outside Mexico that demonstrate a commitment to preserving and sharing authentic Mexican culinary culture.
Abraham Ramos and Marlem Power opened Chilangos in downtown Belleville in 2016.
They expanded the restaurant in 2018 but had to close in June 2022 after a windstorm blew off the roof.
Ramos and Power reopened at their current location in the fall of 2022.
A celebration of their award was held Friday afternoon at the restaurant.
