The Belleville Senators wrapped up their road trip against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, falling 2-0.
The Phantoms led the game off with a goal just over eight minutes in. A puck sent around the boards in the Senators’ zone by Ilya Pautov found the stick of Zach Aston-Reese, whose shot from the corner slipped into the net to make it 1-0.
The second period went scoreless, with Lehigh Valley outshooting Belleville 8-2. The Senators did have some penalty trouble but were able to kill off every man advantage for the Phantoms, going three-for-three on the penalty kill.
The third period provided some more scoring as Lehigh Valley capitalized. A giveaway caused by Pautov in the Senators’ end allowed Jack Studnicka to pounce on the opportunity, recording his second goal of the season to give the Phantoms a 2-0 lead. Belleville generated some chances in the final minutes but were unable to get on the board, falling 2-0 to close out the weekend.
