A Belleville man has been charged after a disturbance investigation led to flight from police in Trenton and Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
On October 2, 2026 at around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a business located on Dundas Street West in Trenton.
When officers arrived, police say a man fled on foot from what was later revealed to be a stolen vehicle.
The accused is alleged to have subsequently stolen another vehicle from a nearby residence.
The stolen vehicle was later located in the area of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Officers from the OPP, Tyendinaga Police Service, and Belleville Police Service coordinated efforts to intercept the vehicle.
Police successfully immobilized the vehicle.
The male suspect fled from the vehicle on foot and entered a wooded area.
The OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team attended the area and assisted, along with supporting units from Belleville Police Service.
As a result, the accused was located and arrested following a search.
A 43-year-old male from Belleville has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault
- Forceable confinement
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Operation while prohibited
- Fail to comply – three counts
- Break and enter
- Assault with a weapon
- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – heroin
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition – five counts
