The Children’s Foundation has announced it has raised $50,000 from the 7th annual Kids Can’t Wait Radiothon on Wednesday.
The community event featured stories of local children and youth on a 12-hour broadcast across 10 radio stations, including Quinte Broadcasting stations.
Every dollar raised directly impacts young lives by covering costs for sports programs, summer camps, and dance or art lessons.
Donations also provide access to essential mental health counselling and help students pursue post-secondary education through scholarships. Local radio stations and community partners have joined forces to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

The Children’s Foundation’s Kids Can’t Wait Radiothon brought Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties together on Wednesday, October 7, raising an incredible $50,000 to support local children and youth. Throughout the 12-hour broadcast across 10 radio stations, listeners heard firsthand from children, youth and families about the difference The Children’s Foundation programs have made in their lives.
And our community answered. People called, emailed, stopped by and donated, showing just how much they care about local children and youth.
“Radiothon is about so much more than fundraising,” says Ingrid Moore, Executive Director of The Children’s Foundation. “It’s an opportunity to bring people together for a cause that matters to all of us. From our incredible radio partners and sponsors to local businesses, restaurants, donors and volunteers, the generosity throughout the day was overwhelming. Whether it was a business giving back through sales, someone bidding in our online auction or families stopping by our Community BBQ, every contribution helped us reach this incredible $50,000 milestone. We simply couldn’t have done it without them.”
The funds raised will help remove financial barriers that might otherwise prevent local children and youth from participating in sports, recreation, summer camps, arts and other enriching experiences.
“Raising $50,000 is an incredible accomplishment and a reflection of the generosity of the communities we call home,” says Sarah Rozema-Seaton, Board Chair of The Children’s Foundation. “But what makes this truly special is knowing the difference these dollars will make in the lives of local children. Sometimes we underestimate just how much one experience can mean to a child. Being part of a team, going to camp or discovering a new passion can build confidence, create friendships and open doors to opportunities they may never have imagined. These are the experiences that help shape who children become, and every child deserves that chance.”
